WoW comes with over 2GB of updates that can be downloaded from our website for much faster access. Please make sure to follow the instructions carefully so that these updates are installed properly and quickly.
Place the World of Warcraft CD into your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.
If your computer is autoplay enabled, an installation window will automatically pop up on your Windows desktop. Click the Install World of Warcraft button and follow the on-screen instructions to install World of Warcraft to your hard drive.
If the installation window does not appear, open the My Computer icon on your desktop and double-click on the drive letter corresponding to your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive to open it. Double-click on the Setup icon in the CD-ROM contents and follow the on-screen instructions to install World of Warcraft.
Installation Directory
During installation, you will be asked to choose the directory to copy files to, please keep note of this directory as you will need it later to install updates.
Inserting multiple CDs with the Full version (doesn’t apply to trial version)
The full version of World of Warcraft comes on 5 CDs. During installation, you will be prompted to insert additional CDs to continue installation. Open your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive, insert the requested CD, and click on the OK button to resume installation.
Installing DirectX
You will need to install DirectX 9.0c in order to properly run World of Warcraft. During installation you will be prompted to install DirectX if you do not already have the most up-to-date version installed on your computer.
Installing updates
When installation is complete, you will be asked to either create an account or Play World Of Warcraft.
Please make sure not to click “Play World Of Warcraft” until you install the following updates:
Full version:
Right-click on each of these files
Choose “Save Target As”
Save the file into the same directory where you installed WoW.

Trial version:
Right-click on each of these files
Choose “Save Target As”
Save the file into the same directory where you installed WoW.
